Starfleet
Track 1. Written by Paul Bliss, music by Brian May and Friends. Length 8:06.
This track was the theme tune of a children's TV series, but this is a reworked rock version.
The track was edited down for single release in both the UK and USA, while the B-Side, 'Son Of Starfleet', is an instrumental remix, which contains most of the bits which were edited out.
There is a small amount of studio noise and dialogue at the end of the track, and the true song length is around 7:59.
Roger Taylor provides backing vocals. 1. Single Version (4:21) (on all singles except for the US release; this is an edit of the album version, featuring a new 10 second keyboard intro, and then the sections from 0:44 to 2:04, 2:07 to 2:42, and 2:51 to 5:07, fading out from 4:57 onwards; the record label, and virtually every other site, state the length as 4:12, but it is definitely 4:21)
2. US Edit (3:07) (on the US 7" single only; this is an edit of the UK single version, which loses an instrumental section from around 1:51 to 3:06)
3. Argentinian Promo Edit (3:36) (on an Argentinian multiple artist 7" promo sampler only; this is the standard single version, with an earlier fade out)
4. Video Version (4:26) (the promo video for the track, containing the single version with numerous sound effects from the TV series throughout) Send a message out across the sky
Alien invaders just past gemini
Who will come and save us now
Who can defend us from the power
Starfleet, starfleet
Starfleet, starfleet
Tell the people back at Earth control
Send starfleet legions to save our souls
Always daring and courageous
Ooh-oooh, only they can save us
Starfleet, starfleet
Starfleet, starfleet
Starfleet
Starfleet, starfleet
Starfleet, starfleet
Yeah
Send a message back to Earth control
Send starfleet legions to save our souls
Always daring and courageous
Only you, only you can save us
Starfleet, starfleet
Starfleet, starfleet
Starfleet
Let Me Out
Track 2. Written by Brian May, music by Brian May and Friends. Length 7:11.
This track was initially intended for Queen's 1977 'News Of The World' album. 1. Bootleg (7:54) (recorded at the Astoria Theatre, London, on 7 December 1990) Yeah
Nice and gentle
Oooh, I've been sleeping
I've been hiding
Beat my head against the wall
I've been crying
Beats from staring at the shame of it all
Let me out
Let me out of here
We can fly away tonight - no-one will know
We can fly away tonight - no-one will know
No-one will know, that's right
Been talking
Soon be laughing
It's a brand new love affair
If I'm dreaming
It don't matter, I can feel that fresh air
Let me out, let me out
Let me out of here
We can fly away tonight - no-one will know
We can fly away tonight - no-one will know
Nobody will know
Not till tomorrow
Ooh, our souls on fire, yeah
Well I've been waking
News is breaking
There's a world outside my door
We can take it, we can make it
And I won't ask for more
Let me out, yeah
Let me out of here
We can fly away tonight - no-one will know
We can fly away tonight - no-one will know
Not till tomorrow anyway, when we can be miles away
Let me out, baby
Help me Edward
Yeah
Yeah
Oh
I 'spose my friend will be grieving
Don't keep pounding
Give yourself a holiday
Say you're leaving
Someday driving
Pack your bags up and shout
Let me out - shout it out
Let me out of here
We can fly away tonight - no-one will know
We can fly away tonight - no-one will know
Oh, let me out baby
Ow
Bluesbreaker

Son Of Starfleet
Non Album Track. Music by Brian May and Friends. Length 4:31.
This track is only available as a B-Side to the 'Starfleet' 7" single.
It is an instrumental track, and contains many of the sections which are edited out for the single version of 'Starfleet'. It contains the (approximate) sections from 0:00 to 0:44, 2:07 to 2:30, 3:56 to 4:04, then an echoed/phased effect, followed by 4:51 onwards.
As with the album version, there is some studio dialogue at the end of the track, so the true song length is 4:25.
