The '46664' project was conceived by Nelson Mandela as a platform to raise awareness of the AIDS virus and raise funds to help it's prevention. '46664' was his prison number whilst imprisoned on Robben Island. The project brought together many musicians, including Queen, Dave Stewart, Bono and Bob Geldof, as well as some modern pop stars and African musicians.
This page includes details all of the tracks officially released, either as downloads or those performed at the 46664 concert held at the Green Point Stadium, Cape Town, South Africa, on 29 November 2003, subsequently released on 7 April 2004 on CD and DVD. The show was broadcast live to over two billion people worldwide via TV, radio and the internet. For a full list of all tracks performed at the original concert, see the 46664 - The Event page.

46664 - The Call
Written and recorded by Queen (and possibly others). Length 4:36.
The studio version of this track has not been officially released.
The live version is basically the first half of the track, the studio version then continues with an orchestral section, another verse and chorus, then an instrumental outro.
There seem to be at least two versions of the studio track available. The first (Mix 1) is in relatively poor quality and was played on Capitol Radio in the UK in 2003. MP3's of this track omit some of the intro reducing the time to 4:26. The second version (Mix 2), is available in near-studio quality, and has a single lyric change at the start of the track (this lyric was also sung on the live performance). There are also some differences in the volumes especially during the quieter sections of the track, there may also be some other changes, but the sound quality makes it hard to compare. 1. 46664 South Africa (2:34) (recorded at Green Point Stadium, Cape Town, South Africa, on 29 November 2003) Yeah There was a man in the street just the other day
With a tear and a hand thin long hand stretched out looking my way
Said 'your money, your sympathy, I really don't need
What I want is you to see how my brothers bleed'
Doctor, oh doctor, my world needs attention
Got sickness and poverty just too bad to mention
Got people too blind to see what's going by
My country stored it's wealth and now it can't figure why
But the rest of the world wants it back now
They got no weapons so they just bug us for the crack now
You gonna stand by and let this go on indefinitely?
Let our leaders articulate our indifference with impunity?
Are you a man?
Or just a number?
46664
46664
46664
46664
Help, help, we need you
Your world needs you
Needs you to know
Needs you to sit up
Needs you to take action and say
No, this will not happen
No, we will not let this happen
No, it shall not be one law for the black, one law for the white
It shall not be one law for the man, one law for the woman
It shall not be one law for the heterosexual, one law for the homosexual
One law for the rich country, one law for the poor country
It shall be one law only
It shall be equality, equality of opportunity
Equality of healthcare, equality of power
Equality of civil rights
Are you a woman?
Or just a number?
Make the call
46664
46664
46664
46664
Yeah
So people, will we let these children die
So we get less mouths to feed
Or shall we ????? and administer to them in their hour of need
AIDS is the terror our children must fear
AIDS is the name we shudder just to hear
AIDS is the word at the back of our minds
AIDS is like no other, the threat of all mankind
AIDS is the call to tear the boundaries down
The issue we must clearly face now
Equality, equality of opportunity
Equality of healthcare, equality of power
Equality of civil rights
Equality of all humanity
Are you a man?
This is the call

Invincible Hope
Written by Queen and Nelson Mandela. Length 4:34.
Recorded by Queen with Nelson Mandela and Treanna Morris.
This track begins with African singing, and features lead vocals by Roger and Treanna Morris, with extracts from Nelson Mandela's speeches.
The original version of the track was only available to download from www.46664.com, from October 2003 onwards. 1. 'One Year On' Remix (4:07) (released on 5 January 2005 on iTunes as a four-artist EP, and also as a CD single in Spain) (features slightly different percussion, has some more prominent guitar and keyboards, and other effects, giving it a 'punchier' feel. It also drops a whole verse and several other lyrics, and some of the vocals towards the outro are a-capella with a drum beat underneath) 1. 46664 South Africa (1:50) (recorded at Green Point Stadium, Cape Town, South Africa, on 29 November 2003) Nelson Mandela: Dark city, so different from the Transkei, the magic world of my childhood had fled, bound together by a love of our common history. Our culture, our country, our people Our culture, our country, our people Nelson Mandela: Something stirred deep inside all of us, that bound us to one and other And the power of the great Gods that linked us all together Nelson Mandela: Fined for what we did not say Fined for what we did not say
Imprisoned for what we could not hear
Hanged for what we did not do
We were freedom fighters
Our was the black ??????
We carried the torch that lit the path
Till freedom went out of our hands
Have invincible faith
Have invincible hope
In the invincible dignity of man
Have invincible faith
In the invincible dignity of man Nelson Mandela: With Muslims in the Cape shoot our workers in the dark, factory workers in Port Elizabeth fight the government side by side. Fight the government side by side
Inch by inch, mile by mile, till victory is won Nelson Mandela: I who have never been a soldier. I who have never fought in battle Make the spear of the nation
Take the struggle to the heart of white power
Take the struggle to the heart of white power
Shaking hands with history Nelson Mandela: Struggle is my life I will continue fighting for freedom
Until the end of my days Hold on to your life, hold on to your children
Be armed with the weapon to show that you care
The weapon is wisdom that goes with the knowledge
That freedom is being aware Under the cover of ignorance
A new darkness is sweeping our land
The pestilent virus of HIV AIDS
Is wreaking it's havoc on man
Have invincible faith
Have invincible hope In the invincible dignity of man
Have invincible faith In the invincible dignity of man Nelson Mandela: Dignity, the hallmark of our action. Shaking hands with history. The struggle is my life. I will continue fighting for freedom, until the end of my days Have invincible faith
Have invincible hope
In the invincible dignity of man
Have invincible faith
Have invincible hope
In the invincible dignity of man

Say It's Not True
(live)
Performed by Queen and Dave Stewart. Length 2:25.
Written by and sung by Roger Taylor.
The 46664 CD and DVD features a single lyric which differs from that actually performed. At the actual concert, the track includes the lyric 'magic potions for lives', whilst on the official releases this has been changed to 'magic cocktails for lives'.
This track was later re-recorded by Queen + Paul Rodgers and released as a free download for World Aids Day in 2007, later included on 'The Cosmos Rocks', and was also re-recorded by Roger Taylor for his 2013 album 'Fun On Earth', featuring Jeff Beck. Bob Geldof: The people who were asked to try and put this whole party together are gonna come on and do a song that they wrote specially for this occasion, and it's a showbiz cliche to say these people are great friends of mine, well it happens to be true. They're great friends, I go on holidays, we get pissed together, and we do all the stuff, and it just so happens they're geniuses as well. From the mighty Queen, Brian May and Roger Taylor, and easily one of Britain's greatest musicians, from the Eurythmics, Dave Stewart. The fun bad three.
Roger: Yeah, thank you. It's great to be here, finally happening. They said it couldn't happen, but it will. The harder we play
The faster we fall
When we think that we know it all
We know nothing at all
The letter arrives
Like a bolt from the blue
So what's left of your lives
All your dreams lost to you
Say it ain't true
Say it today
When I open my eyes
Will it all go away
Say it's not true
Say it for real
Can't be happening to you
Can't be happening to me
It's hard not to cry
It's hard to believe
So much heartache and pain
So much reason to grieve
With the wonders of science
All the knowledge we've stored
Magic cocktails for lives
People just can't afford
Say it's not true
You can say it's not right
It's hard to believe
The size of the crime
Say it's not true
You can say it's not real
Can't be happening to you
Can't be happening to me Roger: Thank you, and welcome.

The Show Must Go On
(live)
Performed by Queen. Length 4:09.
Vocals are sung by Chris Thompson, Zoe Nicholas and Treanna Morris.
Details of the original version can be found on the 'Innuendo' album page. Empty spaces, what are we living for
Abandoned places, I guess we know the score
On and on, does anybody know what we are looking for
Another hero, another mindless crime
Behind the curtain, in the pantomime
Hold the line, does anybody want to take it anymore
The show must go on, yeah
The show must go on
Inside my heart is breaking
My make up may be flaking
But my smile still stays on
Whatever happens, I'll leave it all to chance
Another heartache, another failed romance
On and on, does anybody know what we are living for
I guess I'm learning (I'm learning, I'm learning), I must be warmer now
I'll soon be turning (turning, turning, turning) round the corner now
Outside the dawn is breaking
But inside in the dark I'm aching to be free
The show must go on
The show must go on, yeah, yeah
Inside my heart is breaking
My make up may be flaking
But my smile still stays on
My soul is painted like the wings of butterflies
Fairytales of yesterday will grow but never die
I can fly my friends
The show must go on, yeah, yeah
The show must go on
Oooh, I'll face it with a grin
I'm never giving in
On with the show
Oooh, I'll top the bill
I'll overkill
I have to find the will to carry
On with the
On with the show
The show must go on

Performed by Brian May and Andrea Corr. Length 2:18.
Details of the original version can be found on the 'The Works' album page. Unknown: Thank you very much. Ladies and gentlemen, now is the time for Andrea Corr and Brian May. Welcome them, thank you.
Andrea Corr: Thank you. I'm absolutely honoured to sing this next song with Brian May. It was written by Brian and Freddie Mercury, and for so many obvious reasons, it is very special tonight. One of those reasons being, that I will mention, is that the last time this was performed it was, in fact, on Live Aid by Brian and Freddie. Now, I think we all know how successful the Live Aid campaign was, let's hope tonight that this campaign 46664 can achieve as much, if not more. Just think of all those hungry mouths we have to feed
Take a look at all the suffering we breed
So many lonely faces scattered all around
Searching for what they need
Is this the world we created
What did we do it for
Is this the world we invaded
Against the law
So it seems in the end
Is this what we're all living for today
The world that we created
You know that everyday a helpless child is born
Who needs some loving care inside a happy home
Somewhere a wealthy man is sitting on his throne
Waiting for life to go by
Ooh, oh, oh, is this the world we created
We made it on our own
Is this the world we devastated
Right to the bone
If there's a God in the sky looking down
What can he think of what we've done
To the world that he created Brian: Ladies and gentlemen, the wonderful Andrea Corr

And just complain when you're not there
You had your time, you had the power
You've yet to have your finest hour

Time after time
I've done my sentence
But committed no crime
And bad mistakes
Oh, I've made a few
I've had my share of sand
Kicked in my face
But I've come through
And I need to go on and on and on and on
We are the champions, my friends
And we'll keep on fighting till the end, wow, I said
We are the champions
We are the champions
No time for losers (ooooh, oooh)
'Cos we are the champions
Of the world

And we'll keep on fighting till the end, I said, I said that
We are the champions
You are the champions
No time for losers
'Cos we are the champions
Of the world
