For the past 20 years I have been privileged to work with the best team in the world. Thank you Roger, John and our dear incomparable, sorely missed, Freddie, and all those who worked for Queen over the years, for getting me this far.
This album is dedicated to Harold May, Alfred Dobson, and Freddie Mercury. And to all those loved ones we have lost too soon.
The sleeve notes suggest that the following songs were recorded or begun in the following years:
The Dark - 1980
Back To The Light, I'm Scared, Let Your Heart Rule Your Head and Rollin' Over - 1988
Resurrection and Nothin' But Blue - 1992
Driven By You and Just One Life - 1991
Love Token, Too Much Love Will Kill You, Last Horizon - unknown
(although 'Too Much Love Will Kill You' was initially intended for Queen's 'The Miracle' album so would be 1988/1989)
The American release of the album featured the same photograph as the UK single.
The album was remastered and reissued in 2021, as the first in Brian's 'Gold Series' of reissues, as a single CD, deluxe double CD, LP, LP picture disc, and cassette, as well as a boxed set containing two CD's, a white vinyl LP, booklet, art print, and enamel badge. The deluxe double CD and boxed set contained 'Out Of The Light', a compilation of all of the alternate versions which were included on the original single releases, with the exception of:
Back To The Light (single version)
Love Token (single version)
Resurrection (single version)
Too Much Love Will Kill You (single version)
Last Horizon (radio edit)
Back To The Light (live version from 'The Tonight Show' in Los Angeles 1993)
I'm Scared (original version)
The first five tracks are understandable omissions, as they are very similar to the album versions. However, omitting the live version of 'Back To The Light' is very stange, considering it is the title track, and 'Tie Your Mother Down' from the same performance was included. The original version of 'I'm Scared' is also significantly different to the album version. Various other promo-only versions were also excluded, but are not included in the above list.
To promote the album, three songs were released as one-track downloads, namely 'Driven By You' (25 June 2021), 'Resurrection' (16 July 2021) and 'Too Much Love Will Kill You' (30 July 2021), but they cannot really be considered as singles, while 'Back To The Light' was released as a CD and coloured vinyl on 22 October 2021.
The 2021 remastered CD album is generally the same as the original, although the original contained slightly more silence at the start of each track. The only exception to this is 'Resurrection', which starts and ends 2 seconds later, which means the end of 'Love Token' and start of 'Too Much Love Will Kill You' also differ by 2 seconds.
2021 reissue audio supervised by Justin Shirley-Smith and Kris Fredriksson. Mastered by Bob Ludwig & Adam Ayan, Gateway Mastering Studios, Portland, ME.

The Dark
Track 1. Written by Brian May. Length 2:20.
This is a mostly instrumental track (from 0:39 onwards), and includes material engineered by Alan Douglas at Townhouse Studios, 1980, intended for the 'Flash Gordon' soundtrack. There is a short reprise at the end of 'Rollin' Over' to close the album.
The lyrics are from a traditional nursery song titled 'The Rocking Carol', which was translated from Czech to English in 1928. 1. Live At The Brixton Academy Album Edit (0:52) (this is an instrumental excerpt of the album version from 0:38 to 1:27 then 2:15 onwards)
2. Live At The Brixton Academy Video Edit (0:24) (this is an edit of the above version, from about 0:37 onwards)
3. 2021 Time Traveller Video Version (1:32) (available as part of the 'Back To The Light' 'Time Traveller' video only; this loses the section from approximately 1:14 to 2:00, to omit the orchestral section in the middle of the track, and it fades slightly earlier) Little baby sweetly sleep
Do not stir
We will bring you a coat of fur
We will rock you, rock you, rock you
We will rock you, rock you, rock you
Back To The Light
Track 2. Written by Brian May. Length 4:59.
First ideas engineered by Brian 'Jobby' Zellis and Pete Schwier in March 1988.
This track was used for Japanese TV coverage of the 2006 Formula 1 season. Cozy Powell (drums)
Gary Tibbs (bass)
Miriam Stockley, Maggie Ryder, Suzie O'List and Gill O'Donovan (backing vocals)
Westwood One (mobile recording for the Tonight Show live version) 1. Single Version (5:00) (available on all 1992 single releases; this features some slight remixing, more prominent vocals throughout, and some stereo changes at the very end)
2. Promo Edit (4:12) (on a promo CD and 7" single only; this simply fades out earlier)
3. 2021 Time Traveller Version (4:59) (available on the 2021 download single only, and as part of the promo video; this seems to be the same as the album version, but has some additional echoes in the quieter parts of the song, most noticeably on the first four lines)
4. Karaoke Version (4:59) (available on the 2021 download single only; this contains mostly backing vocals and a few lead vocals only) 1. Los Angeles 1993 (3:57) (recorded on 'The Tonight Show', on 5 April 1993; available on the 'Resurrection' CD2 only)
2. Live At The Brixton Academy Edit (4:38) (recorded at the Brixton Academy, London, on 15 June 1993; available on the album only)
3. Live At The Brixton Academy Full (4:58) (available on the video only, this features a longer outro chorus) Far, far from the light
Hear the night creatures call
With a cold breath they howl
All the hollow hours they're calling you
I'll be there
No matter what you're going through
In the dark I care
I'm holding on, I'm hoping on
It's still the same old me inside Back to the light Back to the streets
That are paved with gold
Back to the light, yeah
Back to the land
Where the sunshine heals my soul Deep, deep in the night
When the world fills with tears
And the wind blows, colder and colder it grows
And the fire dims with the same old fears
I'll be there
Though maybe you don't hear me babe
I still care
No matter when, I'll still be there
When you make it to the other side
Oh, and I'm going back (Back to the light) back to the light
Back to the streets
That are paved with gold
Back to the light Going back to the land
Where the sunshine heals my soul, yeah, yeah
On and on
Searching for a clearer view
Winning and losing an inner war
Wonder what we do it for
Though the road seems never ending
Hold on to the hope I'm sending through
Yeah
Yeah
No, no matter where you're going to In the dark I care I'm holding on - believe it
We'll be walking in the light
'Cos they'll be no place left to hide Back to the light Oh, back to the streets
That are paved with gold, yeah, yeah Back to the light, yeah
I'm going back to the land
Where the sunshine heals my soul Let me hear you babes Yeah, yeah, yeah Oooh, oooh, oooh
Yeah Back to the light
Back to the light, yeah Back to the light
Back to the light, yeah, yeah, yeah
Come back with me Back to the light Yeah, yeah
Love Token
Track 3. Written by Brian May. Length 5:57.
This track features a lengthy piano outro, which segues into 'Resurrection'.
The track on the original CD release is 5:55, but the 2021 reissue track is longer, as 'Resurrection' starts slightly later. Cozy Powell (drums)
Neil Murray (bass)
Mike Moran (piano) 1. Single Edit (5:27) (on the 'Resurrection' 12" and CD1 singles; a straight edit of the album version, losing some of the piano outro, fading from 5:11 to 5:27)
2. Explicit Version (5:26) (given away free with "RCD" magazine; this is identical to the single version, but has a couple of lyric changes) 1. Live At The Brixton Academy Edit (3:05) (recorded at the Brixton Academy, London, on 15 June 1993; available on the album only, and segues into 'Headlong')
2. Live At The Brixton Academy Full (3:41) (available on the video only, this is the full live version with an opening guitar solo)
3. Live At The Brixton Academy Reprise Edit (0:52) (available on the album only, this is the reprise after 'Headlong')
4. Live At The Brixton Academy Reprise Full (1:01) (available on the video only, this is the reprise after 'Headlong', with a slightly longer finale) Yeah
Ooh, let me tell you now
Mama's in love, papa's in love
It's such a shame they don't love each other
Oh no
Oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh
Papa's in a jam, mama's throwing pans
The game's up, it's time to run for cover
Oh, yeah
Oh, everybody's crying but they can't stop hoping
Everybody's looking for the door that's open
Mama's making heat to keep the old fire smoking
Papa's hanging on to his old love token
Oh, oh
You got love but you ain't got style
You want your freedom but in a while
You're lost children but you know for sure
You gotta find out who your love is for
(Yeah, oh baby life ain't what it used to be)
(You're telling me, not since you 'been hanging round here, hey)
Mama what you screaming for acting like a demon for
And hey mama quit waving them hands in the air
(What, don't talk to me that way)
(Well I don't see no reason to raise your voice to me, man)
(You put fat in the fire you got meat shit for brains)
(Well you don't give me comfort and a man's gotta get it somewhere) (Oooh that's a shame) (Ooh, well fuck you) (Yeah, well)
Well Mama's hanging on to every word that's spoken
But papa's hanging on to his old love token
That's what it is, here it comes babe
Yeah
Yeah, yeah
Oh, I don't wanna leave you mama
Yeah, I don't wanna leave you papa
Long haired women gonna turn you to stone
You can't beat 'em - cos you need 'em
You gotta live, you gotta love
Your love token's gotta fit like a glove
Hey
Listen to the story 'bout the dream that's broken
You gotta keep a hold of your old love token
Oh, I don't wanna leave you mama (mama, mama, mama, mama, mama)
Oh, I don't wanna leave you papa (papa, papa, papa, papa, papa)
No I don't wanna leave
No I don't wanna leave
No I don't wanna leave
No I don't wanna leave you alone
But I'm gonna have to babe
Yeah, yeah
Resurrection
Track 4. Words written by Brian May, music written by Brian May, Cozy Powell and Jamie Page. Length 5:27.
This track includes material engineered by Sean Lynch and Leis Masses at Mono Valley and Marcus Studios. It segues from 'Love Token', and the first 38 seconds is atmospheric music from the end of the track.
The track originally appeared on Cozy Powell's 1992 album 'The Drums Are Back', as 'Ride To Win'; it was an instrumental version, but with some changes, most notably in the guitar towards the end.
On the original CD release, the track starts part way through a guitar burst at the end of 'Love Token', and contains around 2 seconds at the start of 'Too Much Love Will Kill You', before the vocals come in.
On the 2021 reissue, the track starts around 2 seconds later, to avoid the guitar burst, but also finishes 2 seconds later, so 'Too Much Love Will Kill You' starts with the vocals. However, apart from the CD markers being in slightly different places, all three tracks are the same. Cozy Powell (drums)
Don Airey (keyboards) 1. Single Version (4:38) (on all single releases, this starts with the drums at 0:38, cuts the instrumental sections from 0:44 to 0:52, and 0:54 to 1:01, and the outro is a few seconds longer) 1. Live At The Brixton Academy Edit (10:06) (recorded at the Brixton Academy, London, on 15 June 1993; available on the album only; includes a Cozy Powell drum solo and the rock section of 'Bohemian Rhapsody')
3. Live At The Brixton Academy Full (10:18) (available on the video only, this features a slightly longer drum solo) There's a pain in my brain
Confusion in my heart
My blood's fit for bursting my body apart
I'm gonna ride
Ride the night into the morning sun
Yeah
Gonna make my resurrection
No more of this crap
Got a whole new direction
Ain't no turning back
Resurrection is a gonna come
Yeah
My spirit is weeping
For freedom it cries
Been scraping my living
In the valley of lies
(Ooh, ooh, ooh) Gonna ride the night to the morning sun
Yeah
I'm a victim of a victim
Of a conspiracy
From a corpum derelictum
Gonna fly and be free
Resurrection is a gonna come
Yeah
Clear the vision
Heal the system
Sins forgiven
Rise
Flee the prison
Break the system
Sins forgiven
Rise
Ride the night - yes I know I'm still alive
Gotta ride the night - yeah I'm gonna ride
Rise again in the morning light
There's no use in my counting
The price of those years
There's too many heartaches
And too many tears
(Ooh, ooh, ooh) Ride the night to the morning sun
Oooh yes I thought I was dreaming
But the east is ablaze
With the promise of the future
Those heavenly days
Ride the night to the morning sun
Ride the night ooh, into the morning sun
'Cos the resurrection is a gonna come
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Too Much Love Will Kill You
Track 5. Written by Brian May, Frank Musker and Elizabeth Lamers. Length 4:29.
This track was initially recorded for Queen's 'The Miracle' album in 1989, and was later released on the 1995 album 'Made In Heaven'.
On the original CD release, the track starts with around 2 seconds of the 'rumble' from 'Resurrection', but on the 2021 reissue, it starts with the vocals.
This track was later covered by both Claire Sweeney and Momo Cortes, both featuring Brian May.
Brian has also performed this track with at least one verse sung in a non-English language, namely French, Italian and German.
Details are also available of three unreleased demo versions, one featuring Elizabeth Lamers, and a recording of the writing session. Westwood One (mobile recording for the Tonight Show live version) 1. Single Version (4:29) (same as the album version, but starts 'clean' on the 'oooh's', without the background noise from the end of 'Resurrection')
2. Guitar Version (4:26) (on the Japanese CD album, the UK CD single, and the 2021 deluxe double CD reissue and boxed set; only 'ooohh' backing vocals remain)
3. Instrumental Version AKA Piano Version (4:27) (only on early copies of a US promo CD; this was a mastering error, and is the album version without the lead vocals, containing the single word 'crime') 1. Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert (4:06) (recorded at Wembley Stadium, London, on 20 April 1992)
2. Pavarotti & Friends 1992 (4:18) (recorded in Modena, Italy, on 27 September 1992; available on the album of the same name, or to download on iTunes. This is very similar to the album version, but with a verse in Italian and some extra guitar)
3. Los Angeles 1993 (4:30) (recorded at The Palace Theater, Los Angeles, USA, on 6 April 1993; available on the 'Resurrection' CD1 and 12" singles, and the 2021 deluxe double CD reissue and boxed set; it is also on a US promo CD, without the spoken intro at the start)
4. Live At The Brixton Academy (4:30) (recorded at the Brixton Academy, London, on 15 June 1993) Oooooh, oooooh, oooooh, oooooh
I'm just the pieces of the man I used to be
Too many bitter tears are raining down on me
I'm far away from home
And I've been facing this alone for much too long
I feel like no-one ever told the truth to me
About growing up and what a struggle it would be
In my tangled state of mind
I've been looking back to find where I went wrong
Too much love will kill you
If you can't make up your mind
Torn between the lover
And the love you leave behind
You're headed for disaster
'Cos you never read the signs
Too much love will kill you - every time
I'm just the shadow of the man I used to be
And it seems like there's no way out of this for me
I used to bring you sunshine
Now all I ever do is bring you down
How would it be if you were standing in my shoes
Can't you see it's impossible to choose
No there's no making sense of it
Every way I go I have to lose
Oooh, too much love will kill you
Just as sure as none at all
It'll drain the power that's in you
Make you plead and scream and crawl
And the pain will make you crazy
You're the victim of your crime
Too much love will kill you - every time
Yeah
Too much love will kill you
It'll make your life a lie
Yes, too much love will kill you
And you won't understand why
You'd give your life
You'd sell your soul
But here it comes again
Too much love will kill you
In the end
In the end Zuviel Liebe tötet (too much love kills)
Sie erlaubt kein Doppelspiel (it does not allow any double-cross)
Wie soll ich entscheiden, (how can I decide)
wen ich wirklich lieben will? (whom I really want to love?)
Du hast Zeichen übersehen, (you overlooked the signs)
meine Schreie überhört (ignored my screams)
Zuviel Liebe tötet (too much love kills)
und zerstört (and destroys)
Driven By You
Track 6. Written by Brian May. Length 4:10.
Produced by Brian May and David Richards, recorded at Mountain Studios, Montreux, in 1991.
This track was used in a different form in TV adverts for the Ford car company, while a short instrumental remix, featuring new music, was released as 'Driven By You Two'.
The original (album) version is also known as the 'Proper Version' and appears on the Queen 'Greatest Hits III' album.
The album and 'new' versions are distinguishable right at the start of the track: on the album version, there is a 'lip' sound before Brian's intake of breath, on the new version there is just the breath. Cozy Powell (drums on the 'new' version)
Neil Murray (bass on the 'new' version)
Brian Malouf (mixing of the 'new' version) 1. New Version AKA Cozy and Neil Version '93 AKA Radio Mix (4:10) (on the 'Too Much Love Will Kill You' CD single, the US CD album, and the 2021 deluxe double CD reissue and boxed set; this is a re-take which features real bass and drums (rather than programmed), but is very similar)
2. Rock Radio Edit (3:40) (only on the US compass box promo CD; an edit of the 'new' version, from 0:15 onwards and fades 3:51 to 3:54, lyrics are from first 'oh yeah' to last 'driven by you')
3. Edited Version AKA CHR Edit AKA English Edit (3:37) (on a UK 4 track promo CD, a US cassingle, or US 2 track CD; fades out on the 'yeah' at 3:55, and loses some other bits)
4. Pollarded Version (3:22) (on a UK 4 track promo CD; this begins with the first guitar on 0:16, omits the section from 2:51 to 3:10, and then ends with last 'yeah' at 3:55)
5. Special Version (0:05) (on a UK 4 track promo CD; a short edit including 'Driven By You' only)
6. Alternate CHR Edit AKA CHR Edit Shorter (3:55) (on a US 2 track promo CD; this is the full version but omits an instrumental section from approximately 2:21 to 2:35)
7. CHR Edit Shortest (3:34) (on a US 2 track promo CD; retains the intro and outro) 1. Live At The Brixton Academy (4:18) (recorded at the Brixton Academy, London, on 15 June 1993) Woh, oh, everything I do I do for you
Oh
Oh, oh, yeah
We touch and you're afraid of me and
We burn and now I'm at your feet
High speed, but you know you're in safe hands
Oh, in the dark we make a brighter light
From one spark to the horizon wide
We trust, and together we tame the land
Yeah, ooh, you'd be forgiven if you think you're dreaming
But we're working night and day to make a dream come true, yeah
Everything I do is driven by you
Oh, come on baby
Oh well it's tough to make a journey through
The right stuff is dead ahead of you and me
And you know we've still got time
Ooh, hold on tight to the driving wheel
This ride is really out of line
Raw deal, but there's no other that's worth a dime
You know I love you but you drive me crazy
'Cos you're saying all the things I wanna say to you (you say)
Everything I do is driven by you
Everything we do, ooh yeah
Everything we do
Everything we do
Everything we do
Everything we do (yeah) is driven by you
Inner children lost their way
Now they know the price you pay
I'm holding onto life with you
'Cos life without you just won't do
Driven by you
Yeah, you know we're never gonna know who's dreaming
But we're working night and day to make a dream come true, yeah
Everything I do is driven by you
Everything we do
Everything we do
Everything we do, yeah
Everything we do
Everything we do, yeah
Everything we do
Everything we do
Everything we do, yeah
Everything we do is
Driven by
Driven by
Driven by you Yeah
Woah, everything I do-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh
I do for you
Nothin' But Blue
Track 7. Written by Brian May. Length 3:30.
This track features John Deacon on bass, and includes material engineered by Sean Lynch and Leis Masses at Mono Valley and Marcus Studios.
The guitar version was originally recorded for Cozy Powell's 1992 album 'The Drums Are Back', called 'Somewhere In Time'. Brian wrote the words to the track the night before Freddie died. John Deacon (bass)
Cozy Powell (drums)
Don Airey (keyboards) 1. Guitar Version (3:50) (on the 'Back To The Light' singles (except CD1), the Japanese CD album, the 2021 deluxe double CD reissue and boxed set, and Cozy's 'The Drums Are Back' album; this is a complete guitar version, with no lyrics at all. In the album version a guitar solo begins at 2:17, while in the guitar version there is twenty seconds of additional instrumental before this) Wooh
Oh, I look at your picture
I'm nothing but blue
I'm hearing you whisper
The way you used to do
And I can't stop wondering
Just how things might have been
No, I'm nothing but blue
My life has no rhythm
Somehow it's out of tune
I keep trying to tell them
We'll be seeing them soon
But the truth keeps rushing back
Guess you know what I mean
No, I'm nothing but blue
No, I'm nothing but blue
No use in crying
That ain't what you would do, no
Living or dying
We'll just keep on fighting through, yeah
No I can't stop my wondering
'Bout all those things that might have been
No, I'm nothing but blue
No, I'm nothing but blue
Nothing
Nothing but blue
Nothing
Nothing but blue
I'm Scared
Track 8. Written by Brian May. Length 3:59.
The album version is also called 'Justin's Mix '92'.
The track includes material engineered by Pete Schwier, assisted by Richard Edwards.
The 'Chaos Karaoke Section' is the verse which begins 'I'm scared of disappointing'. In this section there are at least four separate voices, two through each stereo channel. The lyrics below are my interpretation of the lyrics spoken, but I know that some of them are missing. The left channel voices appear first, then the right channel in brackets. Cozy Powell (drums)
Neil Murray (bass) 1. Original Version (3:59) (on the 'Too Much Love Will Kill You' singles only, and not on the 2021 deluxe double CD reissue or boxed set; this loses the 'Chaos Karaoke' vocals and has some other lyric changes) You take me to the party
You put me on the stand
You're pumping up my heart
To the beating of the band
You toss it in the air
And you don't care where it lands
You take it - you break it
You're hurting me
Because I wasn't prepared
I couldn't go where you dared
You got my whole soul bared
I never knew that your cared
Oh it just ain't fair
I'm scared - I'm scared
I'm scared - I'm scared
I'm scared - I'm scared
I'm scared - so scared
I'm scared, I'm scared, I'm scared, I'm scared
I'm scared
You take me out to dinner
And you swallow me whole
You're nothing but a sinner
With a dark black soul
I figured I could handle you
But I'm just a toy
You're getting bolder and bolder
You're just a bad, bad boy
Because I wasn't prepared (I'm scared, I'm scared)
I couldn't go where you dared (I'm scared, I'm scared)
You got my whole soul bared (I'm so, so scared)
I never knew that your cared (yeah, yeah, yeah)
I'm scared - I'm scared
I'm scared - I'm scared
I'm scared - so scared
I'm scared - I'm afraid
I'm scared, I'm scared, I'm scared, I'm scared
I'm scared
What you staring at
You're such a scaredy cat
When I know that I just can't fight it
So what you staring at
You're such a scaredy cat
'Cos I'm only scared that maybe I might like it
I'm scared of disappointing (I'm scared of losing myself)
I'm scared of losing control (I'm scared of finding myself)
I'm scared of pain (because there might be)
I'm scared of being burnt (no-one there at all)
I'm scared of being ugly (I'm scared of being unknown)
I'm scared of dying (I'm scared of being ugly and being deformed)
And being dull (I'm scared to make a wrong turn)
And being deformed (I'm scared of the dark)
I'm scared of my house (And being dull)
(I'm scared of failing)
I'm scared of Stephen Berkoff (I'm scared of Stephen Berkoff)
I'm scared of being found out (I'm scared of being found out)
You take me to the limit
You take me to the brink
You left me with the blues
When you found me in the pink
You know just what you're saying
But your metaphors stink
I gotta lick it, or stick it
Or this is the end
Because I wasn't prepared (because)
I couldn't go where you dared (because I'm)
You got my whole soul bared (because I'm so scared)
I never knew that your cared (I'm scared)
I'm scared - I'm scared
I'm scared - I'm scared
I'm scared - I'm scared
I'm scared - I'm scared
I'm scared - I'm scared
I'm scared - I'm scared
I'm scared - I'm scared
I'm scared
I'm scared, I'm scared, I'm scared, I'm scared, I'm scared
I'm scared - I'm scared
I'm scared - I'm scared
So scared - I'm scared
So scared - I'm scared
I'm scared- I'm scared
I'm scared- I'm scared
I'm scared - I'm scared
I'm scared (maybe I'm wrong) I'm scared
I'm scared, I'm scared, I'm scared, I'm scared, I'm scared
I'm scared
I'm scared
Ow
Oh, I'm scared You take me to the party
And you take me to the dance
You're pumping up my heart
To the beating of the band
You toss it in the air
And you don't care where it lands
You take it - you break it
You're hurting me
Because I wasn't prepared (I'm scared, I'm scared)
I couldn't go where you dared (I'm scared, I'm scared)
You got my whole soul bared (I'm scared, I'm scared)
I never knew that your cared
Yes you know I'm scared
I'm scared - I'm scared
I'm scared - I'm scared
I'm scared - I'm scared
I'm scared - I'm scared
I'm scared, I'm scared, I'm scared, I'm scared, I'm scared
You take me out to dinner
And you swallow me whole
You're nothing but a sinner
With a dark black soul
I figured I could handle you
But I'm just a toy
You're getting bolder and bolder
You're just a bad, bad boy
Because I wasn't prepared (I'm scared, I'm scared)
I couldn't go where you dared (I'm scared, I'm scared)
You got my whole soul bared (I'm scared, I'm scared)
I never knew that your cared (oh, no, I'm scared)
I'm scared - I'm scared
I'm scared - I'm scared
I'm scared - so scared
I'm scared - I'm scared
I'm scared, I'm scared, I'm scared, I'm scared, I'm scared
What you staring at
You're such a scaredy cat
When I know that I just can't fight it
So what you staring at
You're such a scaredy cat
'Cos I'm only scared that maybe I might like it
You take me to the limit
You push me to the brink
You left me with the blues
When you found me in the pink
You know just what you're saying
But your metaphors stink
I gotta lick it, or stick it
Or this is the end
Because I wasn't prepared (because)
I couldn't go where you dared (because, because)
You got my whole soul bared (I'm)
I never knew that your cared (I'm scared, I'm scared)
I'm scared - I'm scared
I'm scared - I'm scared
I'm scared - I'm scared
I'm scared - I'm scared
That's it - I'm scared
I can't take no more - I'm scared
I'm scared - I'm scared
Don't you see - I'm scared
I'm scared, I'm scared, I'm scared, I'm scared, I'm scared
I'm scared - I'm scared
I'm scared - I'm scared
So scared - I'm scared
So scared - I'm scared
I'm scared - I'm scared
I'm scared - I'm scared
I'm scared - I'm scared
Leave me alone - I'm scared
I'm scared, I'm scared, I'm scared, I'm scared, I'm scared
I'm scared
I'm scared
Ow
I'm scared

Just a moment of your life is all I need
Don't say we should be parted
'Cos we only just got started
Let your heart rule your head tonight
There's a full moon shining on the water
There's a warm breeze blowing off the sea
When my pulse starts a racing
I know life is for the tasting
Let your heart rule your head tonight
Let your heart rule your head
Let your heart rule your head
Let your heart rule your head tonight
When your whole world is sinking
Come to my way of thinking
Let your heart rule your head tonight
It's been so long since I put my arms around you
And I don't know if it's real or it's a dream
But don't pussy-foot about it - shout it
Just can't live without it
Let your heart rule your head tonight - everybody
Let your heart rule your head
Let your heart rule your head
Let your heart rule your head tonight
When your whole world is sinking
Come to my way of thinking
Let your heart rule your head tonight
Oooh, you're staring at my face as though I'm crazy
When I tell you that I need you every day
Can't you see that I love you pretty baby
And old time don't ever stop ticking away, yeah
Your mama don't mind
And your papa don't mind
But you'll never be mine
If you're thinking all the time
We can work it out right
When I'm holding you tight
We can make it tonight
'Cos it ain't no crime
Don't let the moment slip away, hey
Don't think about - do it, yeah, yeah, yeah
Well I know that we're in a time of changes
And in love there is danger everywhere
But consider every portion
When you've taken your precautions
Let your heart (let your heart)
Let your heart (let your heart)
Let your heart, let your heart, let your heart, let your heart
Let your heart rule your head
Let your heart rule your head
Let your heart rule your head tonight, oooh
When your whole world is sinking
Come to my way of thinking
Let your heart rule your head tonight
Come sing with me
Let your heart rule your head
Let your heart rule your head
Let your heart rule your head tonight
When your whole world is sinking
Come to my way of thinking
Let your heart rule your head tonight
Let your heart rule your head tonight
Just One Life
(Dedicated To The Memory Of Phillip Sayer)
Track 11. Written by Brian May. Length 3:35.
This track includes material engineered by David Richards at Mountain Studios, Montreux. 1. Guitar Version (3:35) (on the 'Driven By You' CD and 12" singles, and the 2021 deluxe double CD reissue and boxed set; a guitar version, which loses all vocals except the penultimate verse) I did not know you
Our lives never touched
Till the day they gathered
To bid you farewell
And they painted your picture
And as I looked around
I felt I saw you
In the words and the sound
Your talent came flowing
Through the stories they tell
And through the faces
Of those who loved you so well
Your life gave them a treasure
A piece of themselves
Something they carry
And still serves them well
Just one life
Just one life
Just one life
That is born, and is, and is gone
Just one life
And I'm so glad to know you
As I know you now
Perhaps inside you
You were messed up like me
But to them you were whole and strong
A friend in their need
And what you left behind you
And what swept over me
Says that your life's work
Rolls on and on
A piece of eternity
Just one life
Just one life
Just one life
That is born, and is, and is gone
Just one life
Did you ever have the chance to find out
What life is all about
I did not know you
Our lives never touched
Till the day we gathered
To say our farewells

Wheels turn, power at your feet
High speed, but you know you're in safe hands
Oh, in the dark we make a brighter light
And one spark to the horizon wide
You'll trust and together we'll tame the land
Oh, you'll be forgiven if you think you're dreaming
But we're working night and day to make a dream come true
Yeah, everything we do is driven by you
Everything we do, everything we do, everything we do
Everything we do, everything we do
Is driven by, driven by, driven by you
Yeah
